Turkish-Cambodian diplomatic relations were established on November 7, 1959. Ambassador Mr. Ilhan Kemal TUG was posted on November 1, 2013 in the capacity of the first-ever resident Turkish Ambassador to Cambodia.

The Turkish Embassy in Phnom Penh was establishedon November 1, 2013 andcontinues its activities in its permanent premises since December 1, 2014. Yet theofficial inauguration ceremony of the Embassy was held on March 15, 2015 with the high presence ofH.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu,Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey .

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ankara was established in October 2020.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation paid an official visit to Türkiye between October 1-3, 2018. Following the aforementioned visit, H.E. Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia paid a working visit to Türkiye, between October 20-22, 2018.
